Have spent some weeks telling myself that I should start swimming again, as I am doing basically no energetic exercise at the moment.  Finally got my act together to cycle over to Parkside this morning.  It is now under the control of some sort of social enterprise, and has been revamped with a "changing village" (not sure what this is but probably full of children).  Seems OK though I couldn't find any showers where you could actually strip off - only the poolside ones.  Pootled up and down the slow lane for half an hour, and now feel glowing with health and virtue.  Still redolent of chlorine, though - need a proper shower.

Our local pool used to have a 'Changing Village', which meant mixed changing. They haven't gone over to segregated changing, but they have changed the sign over the door (can't actually remember what to - something marginally less mockable than 'Changing Village').

Interesting to learn that this wasn't just us, it's a Thing.

Fortunately ours also had separate men's and women's changing rooms, so I was able to ignore the village. However, that may be where they have hidden the showers.

'Changing village' sounds pants. I'm far too old and English to go Scandanavian and strip off in public. But congratulations on getting out there - my exercise routine has fallen away horribly during the summer and I'm stuck in the slough of slob, with my exercise bike glowering reproachfully every time I walk past...

How sportif! I sense the virtue from here.
