Cinnabar moth

Saw one of these this morning in the garden, although the red markings were fluorescent pink on mine:

Oh how beautiful...well, the red markings are, fluorescent pink is certainly a choice, moth!

I've seen the distinctive caterpillars on some ragwort on Clifton Road so they're in the area - they used to be all over the seaside town we visited in childhood holidays. Tigerpillars, we called them.

I've heard the word but never known what it referred to.
